The Kinetic Type video was a project where we could choose any songs we’d like to make a lyric video that shows type movement. For this project, I chose “For Lovers” by Lamp, a slow and somber song about a love that had faded away.
I illustrated everything in the video, breaking up certain assets into different layers to animate them more easily in AfterEffects. Since the song is originally in Japanese, I prioritized the Japanese lyrics but still provided the English translations in the corner of the video. Throughout, I matched the pacing of each Japanese character to the audio of the song, so certain characters fade in longer while others come on the screen faster depending on how long the singer held that note.
Overall, the music video is very visual-heavy with a narrative to accompany the song, it’s one of my favorite songs so I’m glad I was able to create something for it!
